COUGAR CUBS (Pre-Team)
Any athlete interested in swimming ages 6 and above is eligible for this group. This group is an introduction to competitive swimming. Drills and games focusing on proper technique of the four competitive swimming strokes will be the primary focus for this group. This group will also spend time working on starts and turns. This group will not compete in meets.
COUGAR CUBS Group Coach:
Workout Days/Times: Two practices per week (30 Minutes)
Minimum Group Requirement: Swim 25 yards any stroke.
WILDCATS
Athletes must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly to join this group. Group focus is learning proper technique and endurance for all four competitive strokes, starts, turns and having fun. Swimmers in this group will be working on building endurance for the 200 IM.
WILDCAT Group Coach: Derek McCormick
Workout Days/Times: Four practices per week (60 minutes)
Minimum Group Requirement: Swim 25 yards of all four strokes correctly. Swim 100 IM correctly w/out stopping.
Equipmemt: Swim bag, Kickboard, Fins, Pull Buoy
JAGUARS
From the WILDCAT group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group focus on becoming stronger swimmers. Jaguars will begin to do training sets and will practice and be held accountable using intervals. This group will also start to learn race strategies and pace.
JAGUAR Group Coach: Erin Newell
Workout Days/Times: Five practices per week (90-120 minutes)
Minimum Group Reqirement: Swimmers must be at least 11 years of age for most of the competitive season. Swimmers must compete in the 200 IM and swim that event under 3:30 (yards) and under 4:00 (LCM)
Equipment: Swim Bag, Kickboard, Fins, Paddles, Pull Buoy
COUGARS-Senior Group
From the JAGUARS group, athletes move into this group. Athletes in this group are high school swimmers. Age Group swimmers could be moved to this group with Head Coach permission if they are state qualifing swimmers. This group consists of our highly competitive team members. Group focus will be on winning, endurance and versatility. Swimmes will be coached to be well-rounded. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to swim the 400 & 200 Individual Medley, 200’s of Fly, Back and Breast and mid distance freestyle events.
SENIOR Group Coach: Tom Moore
Workout Days/Times: Six-Eight practices per week (90-120 minutes)
Minimum Group Requirement: High School Swimmers or 8th graders swimming during the summer that will be freshman the following year. 13-14 year olds with a minimum of two individual state cuts would be considered for this group.
Equipment: Swim Bag, Kickboard, Fins, Paddles, Pull Buoy, Snorkels
